Casting Calls

THE DARKEST POWERS TRILOGY: CHLOE SAUNDERS

Who should we cast? That's probably one of the biggest questions whenever we thought of our favourite book if it is optioned for a film adaptation. Well, here's an imaginary casting by yours truly. It has no ties or association, unless stated otherwise in the article, whatsoever with the book author nor the production company for the film adaptation. This is a compilation by an over-imaginative book-ish brain and thus, might be spot on (or not) in casting book characters So feel free to sound off your opinions on the comment box below.
The Darkest Powers first trilogy instalment

As a contributor for the Bookworm Soul, I've got a few ideas of what book (stand alone-s or series) to have their first Casting Call honour feature (note: there's a slight sarcasm there). In the end, I chose the character from The Darkest Powers Trilogy. It's a fantastic series by Kelley Armstrong and one of my favourite supernatural books to this day.

There are a number of major characters in the story but in the end I chose to ponder on the main female character. The female lead is Chloe Saunders. Chloe dreams of being a film director and attended an art school before she was sent to Lyle House when she starts to see ghosts. I've been mulling about the perfect cast as her and I kept encountering people saying Anna Sophia Robb will make a pretty good Chloe, with her light blond hair and innocent look.

AnnaSophia Robb
Robb is a choice to be considered although there are other actresses that has potential as well. I am rooting for Elle Fanning at the moment since I fell in love with her performance in Sophia Coppola's Somewhere. She's one hell of a talented actress. Fanning could play the stuttering Chloe while Robb has this confident, positive vibe that doesn't work well with Chloe's character. Also, the fact that her age suits the 15 year old aspiring-film-director Chloe. Robb looks a little too old to play a 9th grader.

Elle Fanning

There are a few favouring Kay Panabaker as Chloe. It's true that Panabaker could portrays a high school girl but she lacks the youth and fresh quality that both Robb and Fanning have.

There you go! Three choices to choose from and all of those three are amazing, beautiful girls but only one can be Chloe Saunders.
